1.0 SCOPE

This specification covers purchase requirements for refining flux supplied to

Dead Sea Magnesium (DSM).

2.0 CHEMICAL COMPOSITION

The chemical composition of the product must conform to the requirements

contained in the following table:

3.0 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

      3.1 Form

The refining flux supplied to DSM shall be in the form of anhydrous crystals,

granules or powder.

      3.2 Size

The particle size shall conform to the following requirement:

fraction less than 1.0 mm  –  90% min.

4.0 IDENTIFICATION AND CERTIFICATION

      4.1 Product unit identification

Each unit, pallet or bundle is to be legibly identified providing all the

information necessary to assure tractability throughout the supplier’s

manufacturing process.

      4.2 Certificate of analysis – C.O.A

A certificate of analysis must be submitted to the DSM Purchasing Department for approval

before the first shipment. The supplier shall furnish C.O.A with each shipment. The C.O.A

must show the values of concentrations

for each element specifically listed in section 2.0 and also for any other elements

analyzed.

      4.3 Material Safety Data Sheet – MSDS

Vendor may be requested to submit a material safety data sheet (MSDS).

5.0 QUALITY CONTROL

       5.1 Quality control records

Vendor must maintain documentation on quality control testing and results.

These results must be available to DSM upon request.

       5.2 Statistical process control – S.P.C

Vendor should provide S.P.C data upon request.

 

6.0 PACKAGING

      6.1 The refining flux supplied to DSM shall be packed in 25 kg multi – wall

paper bags or paper bags with inner polyethylene sacks. The packing must

provide complete protection from water absorption or accidental moisturizing.

      6.2 The bags shall be palletized. The pallets must be stable and well secured

to permit easy handling with a forklift truck.

      6.3 Environmental Aspects

Acc. to MSDS.

7.0 SHIPPING

      7.1 The shipping procedure shall ensure safe and undamaged delivery.

             Moisture contamination is not allowed and will cause rejection.

      7.2 Each shipment must be accompanied with a Packing List showing vendor

name; purchase order number; product type and grade; batch, heat or lot

number (s); and – upon request – unit or pallet numbers and their gross and

net weights.
